Wild & Weedy: Plant ID & Nature Walk

Each month the plants change in our yards, gardens, and fields.

River banks and forests floors come to life with the traditional healing powers of medicinal plants.Whether this is through edible plants, healing roots, or the flowers of plants, each month's walk reveals the plant magic.

The walk is a gentle stroll with only a few hills will last for approximately 90 minutes as we meander through the gardens and forks of the North and South Thornton River.

Find out how the "weeds" in our beautiful county and your yard can bring nourishment and healing, through plant identifications and exploration of plant spirit and magical medicines.

Cameras and field notebooks are encouraged. The walk is weather rain or shine. If it's extreme weather then we will let you know by 6am that day.

Work trades available for those that want to participate but are unable due to financial concerns.

Please contact us at hello @ wildrootsapothecary.com with any questions or work trade info.  All Wild & Weedy Walks start at the Community Garden near the apothecary at 4 River Lane, Sperryville, VA 22740.

Colleen O’Bryant is a practicing herbalist, creative forager and owner of Wild Roots Apothecary in Sperryville. Her goal is to help people deepen their connection to the plant world through experiencing the plants in their natural surroundings and opening the door to both traditional and transcending herbal experiences. When she’s not working she enjoys jumping into all the rivers and ponds she can, hunting for mushrooms, exploring astrology and intuitive magic, learning fly fishing and traveling to other places that have cool plants and more magic.
