I love the heat of winter. Outside it may be frigid but inside you can add a dash of cinnamon or ginger to anything and feel the instantaneous building of warmth. This little riff on a hot toddy was at a recent event called @MakersMeals where I was fortunate enough to make cocktails for 50 or so folks on a rainy evening at Kit and Ace in Georgetown. It was a beautiful night and so nice to have an evening away.
I ended up making two cocktails but this one feels so seasonally appropriate I'll share this..
First start with the cutest vintage teacups possible!
Nettle Orange & Chai Hot Toddy
2 ounces Bourbon, Rye or Whiskey
.5 ounce Wild Roots Apothecary Nettle Orange Syrup
3-4 ounces good chai tea (I love our fireside snuggle)
Slice of ginger
Slice of Clementine
Sprig of Rosemary or Cinnamon stick
Make your chai tea and keep it warm. Place the garnishes in the cups. Add the spirit, tea & syrup to the cup and gently mix. Serve while hot.
